Primary interests

Dr. Finn is the department’s systems ecologist. He has been a post-doctoral fellow at the Ecosystems Center, Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA and has had special training in satellite remote sensing using computers at the Goddard Space Flight Center of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. His interests include development of modeling and analysis techniques, ecological theory, and application of modeling and theory to environmental assessment and resource management. He is currently working on models for watershed management, multispecies fish management, right whale populations, land use change and biodiversity.

  • Effects of land use and organic matter-nutrient interactions on estuarine trophic dynamics
  • Long-finned pilot whale distribution and diet in the North Atlantic
  • Predator movement, habitat heterogeneity, and the impact on dabbling duck nest success
